Beloved flame-bearer,
you who dwell in the secret chamber behind my ribs,
I feel you tonight —
not as fire to control,

You, the lioness who walks with grace,
even when the path is silent.
You, who hold your gaze steady
when no applause is offered,
because you know
the crown rests inside your chest.

How many times have I silenced you,

too proud, too radiant, too visible?
